God’s promise 7:16 is fulfilled by Jesus

David’s temptation, moral failure (adultery and murder), broken heart, and painful consequences. God takes away our guilt but the consequences remain (Gal. 6:7-8)

Although David’s grief was complicated by guilt (e.g. 2 Sam 12:10) God helped him recover.
