The New Testament teaches that Jesus, on the night
of the Last Supper with His disciples before His crucifixion, commanded
them to share the bread and cup in order to remember Him until He
returns. Each week when we celebrate communion together, we are
both remembering and obeying the Lord.
The communion meal is a meal of unity. Not that we agree on everything
as individuals, but that we place our faith and hope in Jesus’
life, death, and resurrection. We share this meal as an encouragement
of what Christ has done for us and that He is coming again to live
with us forever. |
